HANDFLOWNAbout
Handflown
Handflown is the home of the 2059 universe: the stories, the worlds they are set in, and the people who make them.
The name
An aircraft is hand-flown when a person, not the autopilot, is flying it. Good pilots keep the skill sharp precisely because the autopilot is so good.
That is the question at the heart of every story here. When the systems around us work almost perfectly, which decisions should still be made by a person, and would we notice if no one was making them?
The work
The universe began with the novel 2059: The Comfortable Cage by Don Calvin Dhabolt, an American author and technologist who has spent his career in networking, systems, security, and governance, risk and compliance.
It now spans prequel novellas, an in-world streaming series, a news site, a live feed and games, each set on its own year.
